Yamato Koizumi Castle is classified as a flatland castle, and is located in Nara Prefecture. During the pre-modern age, it found itself within the borders of Yamato Province. It is associated with the Koizumi, Katagiri clans. Dates in use: 1623 - 1873.

This castle had always been quite a small castle & in fact, had the appearance more of a fortified temple than that of a castle. It's probably unsurprising then that very little remains. The sole remaining gate has been relocated a short distance south and has become the entrance to the Koizumi shine.

On the east bank of the Naginata pond stands what looks like a castle turret. A closer look shows that it is a house with residents and all.
